When I was small, one day, I invited my friends to my house for lunch. I saw my mom had put a vase that had a red flower in it on the table. She said to all the kids "It's beautiful, isn't it? And it smells nice!". But the kids realized it was obviously an artificial flower. It's the first time I laughed outright at my mom in front of my friends, then she finally realized it's artificial. We couldn't stop laughing. My mom and I sometimes remember it and laugh again.

"mixed bag"は、「(ピンからキリまでの）寄せ集め」という意味です。 バラエティに富んでいるというよりは、「いいものも悪いものも（特に考えられずに）ごちゃごちゃ寄せ集められているもの」という感じです。
海外から来ているほとんどの同僚がギターが弾けて、またロックコンサートにもよく行っているようです。聞くとだいたい、育った環境では居間にギターが置いてあり、何かにつけて家族や友人と歌ったりしていたそうです。
前にも書きましたが、私はギター挫折組です。 どうも「真剣学習」になってしまい、いまひとつ楽しめないのです（笑）。

名前は変えてありますが、上記の例文は実際にあった話です。 かくいう私も一時、Facebookアカウントを開設していたのですが、設定をあまりいじっていなかったため、気が付いたら、上司の頁に私のプライベートな飲み友が友人登録していたり、仕事のお客様の頁に私の従兄弟の写真が現れたり、恐ろしい（？）ことがいろいろ起きてしまい、アカウントを削除してしまいました。 IT関連の仕事をしていながら言うのも変ですが、Facebookはかなり強力です。 余裕ができたら、きちんと設定を考えていい方向で活用したいと思っています。
